During this edition of Opera aan Zee I not only sang the role of Santuzza in Mascagni’s masterpiece Cavalleria Rusticana.
I also performed my own creation Dit is Emma, with music by current Composer of the Netherlands, Anne-Maartje Lemereis.
This show was written by me about our Queen Emma, who lived 150 years ago and who ushered in the modern monarchy as we know it.
I’ve performed this piece often since its inception in 2021 but it was the first time fellow singers and artists saw it… To perform your own work is scary! My colleagues were very complimentary and it was a fantastic way to introduce my vision of new works to my peers.
